We are privileged to test this month the actual machine, the Yamaha RT1, which won the motorcycle section of the Roof of Africa Rally in September. Ridden by Roy Linley of the Nomads Club of Cape Town, this Enduro model was at one time leading the rally and came fourth overall behind three cars in a field of approximately 80 which included 11 motorcycles. It is a cross-country motorcycle with a single cylinder motor of cc capacity and is the biggest in the current range of five Yamaha machines designed for riding on the rough. At the same time it is a standard machine, is equipped with lights and can be used on the road. The RT1 has been produced in response to a demand for a machine in the big class capable of competing with the British and Continental singles in European and American sporting events and in particular to take advantage of the big demand for such bikes as a result of the visits to the U. There is a racing version of the standard RT1, known as the RT1 M, for those whose interests lie only with top-line competition. The RT1 has been eagerly awaited in this country, particularly in view of, first, the successes of the DTI and the cc CT1 in numerous trials and scrambles, and secondly,. We were anxious to find out if the RT1 was a worthy partner to its smaller cousins. Accordingly, we asked Roy if we could test his machine.

That's a '73 gas tank. Is the serial number the same on the frame and engine? It's a great distraction from the monotony of work in a British winter time and the people at the track are great. Probably manufactured late in '72 for the next model year. If it's a very old sticker it's likely to be a bike that was parked for many years and probably had very few owners Or I have seen people swap parts because they like the other model paint better. I'm a motor mechanic from Chesterfield, I'm 45 years old and I've been riding flat track at Scunthorpe since the 1st Dirt Diggers event [], initially in the mx class on my modern KTM enduro bike, then decided to buy this bike and ride the vintage class. This message has an attachment image. DxM Paloma: Baja Huskie Some people really loved that copper color and the "Yamaha swoop" stripe on the tank where the looked plain in comparison. Thanks for your patience.
Make Yamaha. Model Ready to ride, excellent condition.
I agree with what the others have said. Replied by Gr8uncleal on topic The right colour on a RT2 ? Forgot your username? The hours spent riding my Enduros is not deducted from my life span. Support Super Steph. The bike came up for sale on eBay, near me in Matlock, and I made a low offer as I'm notoriously tight! The RT3 came stock with a 21" front wheel , and yours is still sporting a 19" wheel. The list on the site says it's a RT2 from but that model was only made in silver colour. We saw this crusty Yamaha at a recent Greenfield Dirt Track practice and wanted to share some photos we snapped of it. I bought a champion frame which I intended to swap the parts into but just can't bring myself to strip it so I have future plans for the champ and hope to ride both. The original silver parts might have been rusty or damaged? I missed that stripe on the guard. Log in Username.
