Location Map. The park is situated on the outskirts of the village of Alford which lies twenty five miles west of the City of Aberdeen along the A Alford is accessible by public transport. Formerly part of a private estate that had been in institutional ownership for a number of years, prior to being bought by the former Aberdeenshire County Council in The Mansion House now houses self-catering flats and the reception, shop and games room of the caravan park situated within the park. The park covers almost forty hectares in area and this can be broken down into four general sections. A third of the park is covered by naturally regenerated birch woodland with heather understory through which runs a network of paths. A third of the park is on the riverside and half of this area has been developed as a wildflower meadow. Of the remaining third half is occupied by the caravan park, and the other half is mown grass, suitable for events and a wide range of informal recreation, and ornamental planting. Parking is available for approximately cars and includes designated disabled spaces. The two toilet blocks have disabled facilities and one of the toilet blocks is open all year round. The park provides picnic tables and has two areas of play equipment for children. On the riverside is a Trim Track, with nine activity points, suitable for a wider range of ages. Visitors are welcome to bring their own barbecues to the park but are requested to use the concrete slabs provided in the picnic table area in order to avoid damage to the grass and wooden tables, and also to minimise any fire risk. To run a caravan and camping site you need a licence from the local authority. Conditions may be attached to a licence to cover any of the following:.
