Location : 75 St. I just counted, and my list of hamburgers to try for this blog currently sits at Well, I finally got there, and yeah — it was worth the wait. You can either get the no-frills cheeseburger, or the Cabano burger, which is a double cheeseburger that comes topped with Cabano sauce, lettuce, onions, and fried pickled jalapenos. The patties are smashed and griddled, because of course they are.

Cabano's Comfort Food. All meat is from a local Ontario butcher and never frozen, and all sandwiches are always served on buns delivered fresh that morning. Boyd designed the functional but sleek seat space with help of Evelyn Eshun , paying homage to the historic neighbourhood with faux exposed brick. American cheese on the bottom for what according to Boyd is the ideal taste bud experience, the Cabano is topped with lettuce and onion. House pickled deep-fried jalapenos and a mustard-based Cabano sauce that contains the jalapeno pickling liquid take everything to the next level. House sauce is served on the side which is apparently a Southern thing: I highly recommended dipping the excess chicken sticking out in some of the buffalo. Topped with all the fixings of mushrooms, onions, and crisp green peppers, the effect of the layering is a crispy, crunchy and familiar-tasting sandwich with just the right amount of sweet house tomato sauce, all on an appropriately puffy and floury bun. Craveable, crushable, and definitely comforting. Join the conversation Load comments. Burger's Priest Yonge St.

Log in now. That patty, though. The spicing of the beef and the soft consistency makes it taste more like a Sloppy Joe. The fried jalapenos, however, are the highlight. Unlike so many burgers in the GTA, you can tell that a great deal of thought was put into the blend they used. It has a great balance between fluffiness and heft. I dare you. The cheese was clearly the dominant flavour. But the flavour is lacking. The fries are very good, and that sambal mayo makes them even better. They have a nice crust from the griddle though only on one side , and the texture is absolutely outstanding. The bun is great, too. They were also undercooked. I ordered the Premium Burger, which is the bare-bones hamburger topped as you like.

It sucks. The gooey American cheese is perfect, griddled onions are always welcome on a burger, and the shredded lettuce adds some nice crunch and freshness. It easily overpowers the mild beef. The texture only emphasizes how un-burger-like it is. You must be logged in to post a comment. Normally this would be way too much stuff, but the aggressively-spiced patty stands out even under the deluge of toppings. That patty, though. The crushing disappointment I experienced on taking my first bite was palpable. Unlike so many burgers in the GTA, you can tell that a great deal of thought was put into the blend they used. This is Toronto. The cheese was clearly the dominant flavour. Oh well.
