While DPS in Wrath Classic have very different power levels which determine to which extent you want to stack them, all healers and tanks are welcomed in Raids and Dungeons , as they all have unique benefits that are worth learning about. We will be ranking each DPS class available in Wrath Classic below, alongside a short explanation on the reasoning behind its position. This list will be kept updated as Wrath Classic progresses, in order to always reflect the current meta DPS ranks. In order to further understand the reasoning behind these ranks, we would recommend you read the rest of the page, as that is explained in more detail in the next few sections. One important change to emphasize is that in Wrath Classic, almost every single spec in the game brings some sort of important raid buff. However, all raid buffs now come from multiple sources, so a single buff could be brought by 3 or 4 different specs.

These rankings could vary over the course of the expansion as patches and gear availability influenced class balance. Different tiers are:. Arms Warriors are excellent for bleed damage and bleed utility, as well as having decent cleave options. You should play an Arms Warrior if you enjoy damage over time builds and have a Rogue or Feral Druid in your group, or if you want to excel in fights against a single to a few targets. Fury Warriors are one of the strongest cleave damage dealers in WotLK as well as having an easy learning curve. You should play a Fury Warrior if you enjoy being the top DPS in fights against targets, or if you want to spend less time learning how to play your class. You should avoid playing a Fury Warrior if you want a strong area of effect ability or if you dislike classes dependent on their gear. Retribution Paladin is one of the best utility specs in the game, as well as having excellent burst damage. You should play a ret Paladin if you enjoy emitting auras to buff your allies, or if you love being able to periodically output a lot of damage by effectively using your seals in conjunction with your other abilities. Beast Mastery Hunter is one of the best burst damage specs in the game, as well as having a very useful pet. Marksmanship Hunters have an amazing single target and burst damage.
Enhancement brings two buffs to any raid composition, Windfury Totem and Unleashed Rage. Their passive survivability is also very high due to the Siphon Life talent.
Note that this Tier List covers classes and specs in their patch We will be discussing this in more detail in the sections below. For example, armor penetration is very rare in Phase 1 gear. This means that physical DPS specs that also inherently deal magic damage will have a major advantage in this phase, as their damage bypasses armor. This includes specs such as Assassination Rogues and Survival Hunters; they do really well in this phase, but fall off once armor penetration becomes more common. Furthermore, DPS specs that have good scaling but low base damage will unfortunately be at their worst during this phase.
Tier lists can often be a helpful tool to decide which class and specialization to play. Ultimately, the decision of which class is the most fun to play is different for each player. One basic metric to use is the amount of damage that a particular class can output in any given scenario or their Damage Per Second DPS. The majority of classes are middle of the pack in terms of performance, however, there are some obvious winners and losers throughout the expansion. All classes have at least one specialization that performs well at some point in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, so players shouldn't worry too much about their class choice. Many players often choose to change specializations depending on the different phases of the expansion. This tier list ranks all DPS specializations for their performance across the entire expansion. We compare each specialization based on a number of key factors such as Single-Target, Cleave, and Area of Effect AoE damage as well as any Utility in the form of Buffs and Debuffs that add value to the group. It's also important to factor in the relative difficulty to play each specialization to its fullest potential.

On the ToGC PTR, Blizzard took the bait and made several changes to the talent in order to buff its damage contribution relative to original WotLK levels and make it behave more intuitively. As a result, raid compositions that stack large numbers of Affliction Warlock s will have a significantly easier time handling these fights during early progression simply by exploiting the synergy between Bloodlust and during Execute phases. Among their utility effects, two are extremely potent: The first one, Rebirth , is especially used in the Halion encounter and can redeem players who die because of the Twilight Cutter , Fiery Combustion , or Soul Consumption. Their utility is also lackluster as they only provide a single raid tool, Tricks of the Trade. Enh Shaman. Balance Druid Survival Hunter. This effect can be used in two pivotal ways. You should avoid Unholy Death Knight if you dislike the steep learning curve that comes from learning how to play a Death Knight, or if you want a character with strong mobility options. PHASE 5. Despite the lacking AoE damage, Druids bring invaluable buffs for their raid group. Marksmanship relies heavily on crit and ArP for a good portion of its damage, but with the new addition of trap launcher they no longer will ever be the dominant Hunter spec. Our cleave damage is virtually non-existent, but our single-target damage is absolutely jaw-dropping. Unfortunately, the Frost specialization is strictly outclassed on all relevant axes by its Unholy counterpart on Phase 3 encounters: a its single target burst damage simply cannot compete with Summon Gargoyle , b its AoE toolkit is less efficient on the multi-target fights, and c it scales less effectively with the 4-piece Tier 9 set bonus from Phase 3 gear upgrades. Post a Comment. In PVE, factors like raid composition, raid tools, and encounter mechanics become more critical.

Beast Mastery Hunter is one of the best burst damage specs in the game, as well as having a very useful pet. However, as they can bring buffs that would require multiple raid spots to fulfill, Enhancement quickly became one of the favorite specializations for the top guilds. This is mostly due to the extremely powerful ICC items, but more importantly, due to its amazing T10 item-set bonuses. This is mainly due to the fact that Fan of Knives is mostly influenced by Armor Penetration, as it deals direct damage connected to your Weapon Damage. These addons provide detailed information about the raw damage numbers, including the damage dealt to individual enemies and other players. This is directly correlated to our Multi-Dot mechanic, as you will increase the frequency of the 4-item set bonus proc the more targets you afflict with the debuff. How does gear and stat prioritization affect DPS rankings? Luckily, the more items they acquire, the more they can mitigate this weakness. To make things worse for us, we have extremely little utility. Still, even with all those changes, their overall damage is weaker when compared to the rest of the DPS Specializations, only coming close once they attain their BiS. Arcane Mage is in the same position in Phase 5 as it found itself in Phase 4.
