Etsy in europe
Etsy has been a go-to online marketplace for people selling unique handmade products or vintage pieces.
If it is happens to be a country where I also pay a recycling fee, such as Germany or France for example, and I get hit with an offsite ads fee, I end up paying a big chunk out of my order towards offsite ads, Etsy fees, VAT and on top of that part of the recycling fee. I am sometimes struggling with how to incorporate these fees into my prices since it feels unfair to 'punish' my non-European customers for this, but Etsy does not give me any tools other than for my own country, but I get very few orders from Ireland so that does not help. That is part of running a business here in Europe. Yes, it's a struggle. I understand that the threshold in Ireland is a lot higher than here.

Hello, I've read quite a few europeans sell on Etsy and mostly sell to an American audience. It appears that's because most europeans don't know about etsy, and the ones that do think of as a very overpriced version of aliexpress. So what venues do European ecom sellers have for selling to Europeans? The population of Europe is twice as large as America, I would think euro zone shipping is pretty affordable compared to shipping to America, so I'm a little curious if the "European markets" isn't much of an opportunity for European sellers and I'm kind of curious why. TheYayAtelier Europe consists of many different countries and many different cultures. Folksy is even less well-known. Most people know of Ebay and Amazon. Etsy has a horrendous reputation in the Netherlands, even when you think the reviews could not get any worse against Etsy, they do. It is shocking! As for shipping within the Euro zone, not so easy and affordable as they make out. I was shocked when I saw how much my customers would save sending from the UK instead of Europe. The EU is not as untied as one might think so shipping can vary widely. And oh what issue it be to get your package. Ive only sold a handful of items here in Europe.
Thank you all. Now I don't sell to Europe at all.
I am already selling to the USA but was wondering if there's anything to look out for when setting up and selling to Europe and the rest of the world e. Here is my store: emilysgiftstudio. Tracking is definitely best for former Soviet states and, surprisingly, Italy. Thats a good point, more expensive but probably definitely handy if a problem occurred. It's annoying there's so many hoops you have to jump through for such a simple concept. Posting to many EU countries now requires you to comply with their packaging laws and register and pay an annual amount depending on how much packaging you send there. If you send anything to Germany without registering it will be sent back to you and I believe France and other countries either have or will follow suit.

Hi Everyone! Log in. EU has 24 official languages, go now optimise your website for International SEO, so be able to appear on Google search results for the particular country, translate the content, figure the Packaging law for each country Do you need more specific information? Re: How's ecommerce selling in Europe like? The goal is to prevent the items from moving about the package. It's just a mine field at the moment! That complication is far worse than the customs paperwork issues. All forum topics Previous Topic Next Topic. As you said, once you've got your head around the rules then it should be plain sailing. The website is a bit confusing.
As of now I am only selling in the United States and was wondering if it would be worth it to expand my horizons and sell overseas? There are more laws than there are countries, and each country has it's own stacks of laws that might not be even countable.
My suggestion is to do some research and check ik it's worth it. It's tricky and unfortunately Etsy doesn't help at all with this problem that many EU sellers have The seller just has to post the item to Ebay's UK depot and Ebay sort out the customs paperwork and onward despatch. Thanks for finding that info, theres so much contradiction with various rules that sellers like ourselves are being pulled in different direction and it's not simple as it could be. On the other hand, when we have registered our VAT number on the financial info, do not pay VAT on Etsy's listing and transaction fees, since Etsy pays us from their office in Ireland which is in the EU. Check and seal. TheYayAtelier The packaging laws are not tariffs between countries. Use the right box. Who has told you that sales to certain countries is exempt? Also how do you eliminate France from the countries you ship to?
