Unfortunately, I was told that according to the laws of New South Wales the state where Sydney lies , activities such as hugging or even touching koalas and wombats are forbidden. It is still possible in other states, so if you head to Brisbane and the famous Australia Zoo, koala hugs are the norm. I finally got to see my favorite wombats, sitting peacefully near the fence where I could pet them. There were also penguins, dingos, and plenty of wallabies. Wallabies are often confused with kangaroos, also present at Featherdale, but wallabies are smaller and friendlier.

Next to the Aquarium is an indoor wildlife park with most animals locked away behind bars or glass.

During my visit to Australia, I wanted to visit at least one zoo to see the local animals. After doing some research, I decided on the Featherdale Wildlife Park in the northwest suburbs of Sydney. My biggest question was how to visit the Featherdale Wildlife Park since it was around 45 kilometers from my hotel. I quickly learned that the Featherdale Wildlife Park could easily be reached by taking public transportation.
