The stadium is primarily used for Australian rules footballserving as the home ground of the Gold Coast Sunswho compete in the Australian Football League.

The stadium is now known as Heritage Bank Stadium and features a seating capacity of 22, and first-class corporate facilities. Heritage Bank Stadium is an outdoor venue with general public seating split across two levels. Level 2 is not accessible via an elevator and is only accessible by stairs. The venue also served as the main stadium for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, hosting the athletics, opening and closing ceremonies, where the capacity was extended to 40, with the addition of a temporary grandstand at the open scoreboard end. All that remains of the original stadium which opened in are the six light towers, with everything else flattened. Original plans were for two main grandstands on either side with uncovered seating behind both goals, however additional funding allowed for the roof to continue around the Southern end.
