The league also features a mechanic around Relics that you can find that will have a variety of effects. These will often make your character feel super powerful to play! These points can then be spent on some incredible cosmetic rewards. These rewards can only be earned by playing during the league and will carry over to the main game to be used by your other characters afterwards. Osrs leagues

Players who missed out on Twisted League or Trailblazers or those who simply loved the 2 month-long seasonal game mode are in luck! In leagues players start completely from fresh without any stats, items, or bank. You can use your regular osrs account to login, this will not affect your account at all. Items and stats gained in leagues do not carry over to the real game. The release date for Leagues 3: Shattered Relics was postponed until January 19th, The event will run for a total of 6 weeks, thus ending on March 2nd.

OSRS Leagues are just not meant for new players, especially real players looking to play a classic MMO, not that it is really "advanced". Of course it all depends on what Jagex want to accomplish with leagues. I want to choose my own path. IM is not designed for new real players to start with.
