Paul Anthony Insel born is an American physician and pharmacologist. He has been the chief editor of four academic journals and is an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science , American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics , and American Physiological Society. His research is primarily focused on G proteins. He attended George Washington University for two years [4] before attending the University of Michigan , where he graduated with his Doctor of Medicine in His next position was at the University of California, San Francisco as a research fellow and associate professor in pharmacology.

Current work emphasizes GPCR expression by individual cell types and the contribution of particular GPCRs to cellular responses, in particular, in cells especially cancer cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts in the tumor microenvironment. We focus on previously unrecognized GPCRs as regulators of cell function and as novel therapeutic targets. Our current emphasis is on pancreatic cancer.
