It has a long water-proof and heavy-dut zip down the front of the pack meaning that it can be opened for quick access without having to unload everything from the top. The main inner compartment can be split into two, with access to the lower section via another heavy-duty zip. There are two compression straps on each side, one that is fastened with a clippable buckle, the other which has the old fashioned threadable buckle.
