Developed as the sixth installment of The Real Housewives franchise, it has aired twelve seasons and focuses on the personal and professional lives of women who live in or near Beverly Hills, California. The success of the show has resulted in two spin-offs: Vanderpump Rules and Vanderpump Dogs featuring cast member Lisa Vanderpump. The second season began on September 5, , with all six housewives returning as main cast members. Two new housewives were introduced in recurring roles: Brandi Glanville as Maloof's friend and Dana Wilkey as Armstrong's friend. The third season premiered on November 5, Glanville was added to the main cast, along with a new housewife, Yolanda Foster. Marisa Zanuck and Faye Resnick were introduced as Kyle Richard's friends and are now recurring cast members.

The first season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills introduced six women to the franchise, that are described as "the most affluent women in the country", [19] as well as describing their affluence and wealth with, "these women are in the center of it all and they have the mansions, the cars, and the diamonds to prove it. Taylor Armstrong moved to Beverly Hills in from her hometown of Oklahoma. She met her husband, Russell Armstrong, and together they have a daughter, Kennedy. In addition to being a wife and mom, Armstrong is a philanthropist and business woman. She has adapted the "work hard, play hard" attitude, which allows her to maintain her identity in Beverly Hills. Camille Grammer joined the series reluctantly, revealing that her husband at the time, Kelsey Grammer , encouraged her to join the series. Her career as a dancer began when she was cast on Club MTV.
