Crewe Hall- best standard accommodation in the uni, good facilities and really nice gardens. Loads of single sex flats but was still a lot of fun. Great halls- everybody around, Edge convenient. Long walk to university buildings and lectures though- around 40 minutes. I lived in Crewe Hall in Endcliffe which is an older building separate from the main halls of residence. I had an older building and opted for the cheapest accomodation, and shared with 9 other mixed-sex flat mates and shared 3 bathrooms between 10 of us.

I haven't been able to find a single reference to the hall, except protests about students on the BANG website! Does anyone know what the hall was built for, its age? I think there have been a few extensions to it since it was first built, but i'm not sure. The oldest part of The Hall Wow imagine having that whole place to yourself! It was then bought by Thomas Wilson, a cutlery manufacturer, one of whose sisters married Frederick Thorpe Mappin. Thomas died in and his estate was sold in four lots. The house became the residence of the Leonard Hedley Burrows, the first Bishop of Sheffield, in but he did not like it and it was sold to the University in and became a hall for women students until When Crewe Hall was built in it became the warden's house. I didn't realise it had been halls of residence for so long, I thought it might have been used during a war for a soldiers' rest home or something. I didn't like the place though. Very poor communication with halls management, their maintenance line is always busy and will just spring replacement charges out of nowhere, even when the item they were replacing was broken anyway. You're about 5 minutes from the main Endcliffe area so you're a little more secluded, but there are some shops nearby. The internet is fast, though at some point rodents did chew through the cables, knocking out the wifi in half the building. Kitchen size was fine, but no living room, just a dining room consisting on one large table. Overall, quite disappointing.

Well I had a look and drew a blank like you. It is a fair walk to the campus and further yet to the city centre, but the seclusion and quiet of the small village is blissful.
