My lack of understanding at the time we replaced the order and the measurements were done means that I misunderstood how the stripe would look on the two quarter turns in our stairs. I though the stripe would go up on the stairs, then turn 45 degrees anti-clockwise on the flat part and then turn another 45 degrees anti-clockwise as it went up the stairs again. Is it something I should just live with?
