Wally West was first introduced in season 2 as a result of the Flashpoint, an event that saw the show's star, wally flash, Barry Allen, create an alternate timeline where Kid Flash watched stripselector Central City. The character was the nephew of the existing Flash character's girlfriend and later wife, Iris West. During a visit to the Central City police laboratory where Barry Allen worked, the freak accident that gave Allen his powers repeated itself, bathing Wally in electrically charged chemicals. Now possessing the same powers as the Flash, West donned a smaller-sized copy of Barry Allen's Flash outfit and became the young crimefighter Kid Flash. Even if Wally is the "real" Flash for many readers, there's still a lot that some don't know about him, especially as Barry Allen has raced back into the limelight. With Wally now back in his rightful place as the main Flash, it's wise for newbies and even old fans to get back in touch with his history and what made his version of the Scarlet Speedster so great. Though his aunt Iris' boyfriend proved to be a bore, Wally was interested in Barry's apparently "knowing" the Flash. During their meeting, the lightning-related accident that gave Barry his powers replicated itself on Wally, bestowing upon the boy the same speed-based powers possessed by his idol. After taking the name Kid Flash, Wally briefly wore a costume identical to Barry's, although he later donned a more unique yellow and red suit that showed off his hair. When not in Central City, he protected his small town of Blue Valley. The fairly idealistic Wally was initially portrayed as having a fairly good relationship with his parents, but later retcons by Mark Waid put the family at odds.
